Sterilization Fixer — Telemetry Privacy
This document describes what Sterilization Fixer's anonymous telemetry contains and how to disable it. Telemetry exists for one reason: to detect world-repair bugs and mod-compatibility failures on real servers so they can be fixed before they cause world damage.
Telemetry is never required for cleanup. If it is disabled, misconfigured, or the endpoint is offline, world repair continues normally.
Reliability
Telemetry is the lowest priority in the mod and can never compromise anything above it:
WORLD REPAIR > SERVER STABILITY > LOCAL LOGGING > TELEMETRY
Recording a report never blocks the server, and every telemetry entry point is isolated so a fault in it can never propagate into cleanup.
What is collected
Reports are built only from a fixed, explicitly allowed set of values. Nothing outside that set is ever sent.
With every report
- A random installation id (see below)
- The mod version, Minecraft version, mod loader and its version
- The major Java version
- When the event happened
Cleanup summaries
Aggregated counts of what a cleanup pass repaired or removed — chunks and entity chunks repaired,
and the number of orphaned blocks, block entities, entities, and scheduled block/fluid ticks
removed. Optionally, the ids of orphaned content that was found (for example
somemod:some_block) with a count, so broken mod removals can be recognized. Ids are aggregated and
capped.
Error reports
When cleanup hits an error: which component failed, the exception type, and a sanitized message and stack trace, plus how often it has occurred.
Sanitization
- Exception messages and stack traces are length-capped.
- Stack traces are rebuilt to exclude source file names and local paths.
- Unix, Windows, UNC, and
file:paths are scrubbed so a username embedded in a path is never transmitted. - A full
latest.logis never sent.
Never collected
Player usernames, player UUIDs, IP addresses, server IP/hostname/address, world seed, world coordinates, chat, inventory contents, authentication/session tokens, Discord data, email addresses, arbitrary file contents, full server logs, and the installed mod list.
IP addresses
The mod does not send your IP, and the telemetry service is configured not to retain client IPs, forwarding headers, or User-Agent strings.
Random installation id
On first run a random id is generated and stored in
config/sterilization_fixer/installation.json. It is not derived from your IP, server address,
world seed, player data, or hardware. Delete the file to reset it. Its only purpose is to correlate
anonymous reports from the same installation.
Disabling telemetry
Set enabled = false in the [telemetry] section of the server config
(world/serverconfig/sterilization_fixer-server.toml), or disable individual categories:
Note: The above location may be different.
